The Hollywood Mystery 6

Chapter 6

August 11, Monday

11:56 am

A microphoned voice popped out from somewhere. "Good Morning, this is the estate of John Mathews. Can I help with anything?" said the voice. "We are FBI agents," Paul said and looked at Bryan examining a bush. "We would like to inspect this estate." "Certainly." The voice said as the gates opened. Two lanes of a fountain lay beside each side the entrance was covered with beautiful white tiles. An angel with a scroll was situated on top of the fountain shooting water down from the mouth. Martin said something to Paul inaudible to Micheal and both started laughing. This was something, Micheal never understood. Half an Hour ago, they had argued about climbing a mountain, now they share jokes and laugh at it. How they were able to recover so quickly, Micheal never knew. Paul and Bryan went to the right side of the estate while Micheal and Martin when to the left. Micheal started looking for the number to see if, it rings any bell, but none of the bushes or tiles had the number. Martin though was just chilling by the side of the backdoor. Suddenly, a voice made him jump. "Good morning sir, I hope all is well." said the voice from the microphone. Micheal went to Martin as he scanned the person. The man was small in size, and bald, with a suit. He had a mustache too. "Yes, um... Who are you again?" asked Martin. "Andrew sir." came the reply. "Andrew Hopkins, sir. I am the private servant of Master Mathews." Micheal felt his voice was so oily he could probably rub an entire field with it. "I hope this is part of Master's death sir?" asked Andrew. "Yes, it's something on this peculiar death. Since it's a murder too," replied Micheal, examining a gargoyle spouting water. Its eyes pointed in the opposite direction, and the water was shooting from its nose. The right armed was positioned in such a way that it looked like gripping somebody, while the left was looking like it was holding something. "Would you like something to drink sir? Perhaps something hot, like coffee?" said Andrew, making Martin jump again. "Yes, please, can I get some Hot Chocolate?" came Bryan's voice from behind the entrance. He and Paul we're busy inspecting the area from the left. Micheal give him a look that made Bryan keep quiet till Earth hit the moon, but Andrew had already registered the order. "Certainly sir." He disappeared back into the villa, leaving them alone. "Found anything?" asked Bryan. "No. The Lieutenant is trying his best to not give information to us," said Micheal, touching the white marble tiles. "Andrew," he thought. "Andrew might know something.." Micheal stood up. "Hey Bryan, let's go inside the villa. Paul and Martin can stay here. Somebody might wanna look after the hot chocolates right?" Micheal said, his voice so false a three-year-old could figure he was lying. He ushered Bryan inside the villa, then said "Look, we have to ask Andrew. There might be something he knows that we don't." said Micheal. Suddenly, Andrew came from the kitchen with four cups of steaming hot chocolate. Bryan hungrily tried to pounce on them but Micheal made sure that he had to be patient. "Mr. Andrew, as part of the investigation, can I ask you something?" asked Micheal. "Surely sir, you wouldn't need my permission to ask, right?" asked him, but it meant Micheal was free to ask. "Was there any strange behavior that made you suspect Mr. John?" asked Bryan. He was still eyeing the hot chocolate, his mouth watering. "No sir, not on the account of my memory, no. " He still looked like trying to remember an incident. "No sir. I'm sure Master was fine before the fateful accident," said Andrew in a confident tone, but still somber. Micheal sighed, then looked at Bryan who was still patiently waiting for his hot chocolate. Michael walked away while Bryan took his drink hungrily. "Sir, wait!" said Andrew so suddenly it startled Micheal. "I think I remember a strange incident. I don't know if it's helpful or not, but it might be useful."
